Xytis, Inc. incorporated in 2005 results from the merge between Remergent and Xytis Pharmaceuticals. Headquartered in Irvine, Xytis brings world-class scientific leadership, skilled management, drug discovery and medicinal chemistry expertise, as well as clinical development experience to its leading portfolio of CNS drugs. With programs in Traumatic Brain Injury, Anxiety, Schizophrenia, Depression and Attention Deficit-hyperactivity Disorder, the Xytis portfolio addresses large markets and major unmet medical needs, and is balanced both by stage of development as well as by risk spectrum. Xytis pipeline includes clinical-stage compounds in-licensed from leading pharmaceuticals companies, as well as internally-discovered novel chemical entities. In order to strengthen its pre-clinical pipeline, the company has also entered into agreements with the Regents of the University of California, under which Xytis acquired exclusive worldwide rights to 1) novel quinolones for the treatment of neuropsychiatric disorders; and 2) substituted enaminones, their derivatives and uses thereof.

Pre-clinical research and development is managed from Irvine, CA, and draws on expertise of its scientific founder, Professor Kelvin Gee, and his team at University of California, Irvine. Clinical development is managed from the vicinity of Geneva, Switzerland. The company operates in a capital-efficient, semi-virtual mode and is backed by leading international venture capital firms, including Atlas venture, CDC innovation, Sanderling Ventures and Ventech. The business strategy for Xytis is to bring novel chemical entities for validated targets from discovery to phase III ready. By this mean, Xytis intends to create novel clinically meaningful medicines for CNS indications in order to improve quality of life of patients, build commercial value for the company's shareholders and employees, and build a high performance organization fostering team spirit, personal and professional integrity.
